Walk in Warmth in a Pair of Wool Socks

Perhaps the most bitter part of a cold front is the cool, harsh air that comes along with it. When this happens, your feet are one of the first parts of your body to be affected. Wool socks always provide adequate protection for your toes, but sometimes they need a little assistance. This is where pairing them with the right footwear comes in.

Wool socks do just fine by themselves but are a forced to be reckoned with when backed by the right cold-weather shoes. Here are a few pairings that will have you ready to take on the cool temperatures.

Ankle Socks + Low-Cut Leather Boots

Whether you’re wearing long pants or a short skirt, it’s imperative that you wear socks with your ankle boots when the weather is icy. Cotton socks may suffice initially, but as the day progresses, you’ll find your feet beginning to freeze. Stave off the cold by pairing wool ankle socks with low-cut boots. The short cut helps it to remain incognito under your boots, while the thermal fabric keeps your feet warm.

Calf-High + Knee-High Fur Boots

Tall, furry boots aren’t just warmer than your average pair. Their tight insulation not only keeps your feet from freezing over, but your legs, too. Since going barefoot may be a little uncomfortable for the avid sock-wearer, opt for a calf-high wool sock. Because the shoe itself is already toasty, adding a sock that’s just as warm can stir up too much heat. Wearing a pair that cuts right below your calf will give just enough warmth without overdoing it.

Knee-High Socks + Knee-High Riding Boots

Riding boots do a great job at protecting against the ice-cold wind, but they’re not the best at keeping your feet warm. You need a pair of socks that can warm you up from your toes to your knees. For optimum heat, wear a wool, knee-high sock—especially if you’re sporting a skirt. Opt for a funky, patterned style and you’ll walk through the cold-weather season stylishly.

Give your feet the warmth they need with wool socks. Pair them with the right shoes and you’ll be ready for whatever the  weather brings.
