Take Note! 3 Important Criteria For Your Purchase of Sports Shirts
Sports shirts have to feel good even if you are breaking sweat, because wet clothes that stick to your body take the fun out of workouts. They should also fit perfectly and protect from the elements during outdoor activities. Stylight’s advice:
1. Drying, cooling effects
Sports shirts usually have a tight, clingy fit, and should wick excess moisture away. For jogging, or longer exercises, it is especially important to feel comfortable and dry, as well as cool. This only works if the fabric is very close to the skin. T-shirts made of pure cotton are not a good option, because the porous material absorbs moisture. Choose shirts made of high-tech fibers or natural materials, such as merino wool on cooler days. Fast drying materials are a necessity. But beware of cheap synthetic materials: bacteria easily spread on polyester, which can cause odors.
2. UV protection
It’s not as important to think of this factor for indoor yoga as it is for all outdoor activities: Sports shirts should be made of a material that provides UV protection. If you want to do without sunblock, your best bet is to choose a long sleeve shirt with a high neckline. High-quality materials also feel silky and cool on your skin – and they provide cooling effects on hot summer days, which protects against overheating. UV protections is particularly important for neoprene shirts, because the solar reflection is particularly strong in the water.
3. Comfortable fit
Of course, shirts that are designed for athletics should be tailored to the activity. Tops with a tight fit are appropriate for yoga and gymnastics, otherwise there can be unwanted peek-a-boo moments during downward facing exercises. Athletic wear used for running should also have a slim fit. Choose designs with well-designed seams that do not cause friction. Polyester is a smart choice for team sports. It is always light and comfortable, but can also develop odors quickly. Soccer jerseys, for example, are made of polyester – designs that bear your favorite team’s logo are also great for watching soccer from the comfort of your couch.
For winter sports, wear sports shirts made of Merino wool under your anorak, because they provide lots of warmth, do not itch, and barely develop odors. However, they do not provide cooling effects and the fibers dry very slowly – which is why they are only appropriate for truly low temperatures.
