Simply styled: oversized sweaters for men: 4 cool looks
Oversized isn’t the same as too big! These casually cut sweaters have a different arm to torso ratio than their classic cousins. But be careful: To make sure that your fashionable sweater doesn’t end up looking like something you just threw on, it’s important to buy a real oversized sweater. Run a mile from normal sweaters that are a few sizes too big. Stylight shows you four oversized sweater combos:
1. Oversized sweaters with shirts
Classic shirts give oversized sweaters a touch of the serious and make for a great contrast to clean cut or dark sweaters. But one oversized item is definitely enough: The shirt should be figure hugging, because loose shirts crease and form unfavorable shapes. Of course, your shirt collar may be seen underneath the sweater – to make the most of this choose classic collars, stand-up collars or go the full shebang and copy the collars of fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld. A very effective upgrade is waiting for you with double cuffs and elaborate cuff links.
2. Oversized sweaters with t-shirts
With a t-shirt, too, we don’t want any unattractive bulges of clothing, the t-shirt you choose should be slim fitting. A round neck t-shirt is a good choice. Although the oversized sweater should be the most eye-catching thing, a brightly colored t-shirt underneath can make for a great highlight. You can make this look super casual by rolling of your sweater sleeves.
3. Oversized sweaters with long shirts
Long shirts aren’t just for the ladies: Under oversized sweaters for men, a hip-length shirt will feel especial comfortable and turn its wearer into a fashion pro. The long shirt can be in the same color as the oversized sweater or plain white. For braver guys, color blocking is an option: Wear brightly colored shirts or long shirts with patterns under a plain sweater.
4. Oversized sweaters on their own
No need to worry about wearing too many items of clothing, because oversized sweaters also look great without anything underneath. Jerseys and short sleeved sweaters are real lone wolves. Tank tops make them more comfortable to wear, without distracting from the sweater itself. Especially if you’re wearing a brightly colored or crazy patterned sweater, don’t add anything else that’s too eye-catching – it’s just too much.
Oversized sweaters don’t care what season it is: Wear them with a denim jacket or a loose fitting bomber jacket in summer. In winter, a parka or oilskin jacket will keep you warm.
