3 rooms where a mirror can work wonders

Mirror, mirror on the wall, which model fits which room best of all? Designer tips: Every apartment has at least three mirrors – one in the hall, one in the bedroom and at least one in the bathroom. Which mirror is best suited to which living area:

1. Hall mirror

  • Purpose: A full-length mirror is great for that final scrutinizing glance before leaving the apartment. The mirror should at least be big enough for you to check your hairstyle or adjust your cap.
  • Decorative tip: Mirrors without a frame can make confined spaces such as a small corridor, look larger.
  • Attention-getter: ‘strap mirrors’. These circular mirrors are held in place by a three to five centimeter strap.
  • Favorite brands: Hay, Moormann

2. Mirror in the bedroom

  • Purpose: There is usually a wardrobe in the bedroom. If this the case, there ought to be a full-length mirror to get dressed in front of.
  • Decorative tip: Those that want to save space, can hang the full-length mirror on the inside of the closet door. The mirror should be light and frameless for easy hanging.
  • Attention-getter: Standing mirrors which are propped against a wall. These should be heavy and of high quality, so that they stand securely. Models which have iron edging look particularly good, like those used in department stores.
  • Favorite brands: Mortens, Studio Copenhagen

3. Mirror in the bathroom

  • Purpose: A well-lit mirror is required for cleansing your face, blow-drying your hair or trimming your beard. The light source should come from above, so no shadows are cast on the face.
  • Decorative tip: Affix mirror tiles to the bathroom walls, or use lots of small mirrors, like cosmetic mirrors, to boost mirror reflection.
  • Attention-getter: Decorative cut-edge mirrors or mirrors with small tesserae come in all sizes. Models with a wooden frame are also popular and give a bathroom the look of a wellness oasis.
  • Favorite brands: Ars Natura, Home24
