Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty now offers men’s plus sizes
Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty collection is continuing to break barriers as the lingerie brand welcomed plus-size male models as starring figures in its “Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 2” fashion show.
The famously body-positive brand has long been considered a champion for inclusivity for its use of body-diverse models. Its foray into plus-size menswear has been lauded on Twitter as a step in the right direction in an otherwise narrowly-casted industry.
“Never in my adult life have I seen a male model that has a similar body to mine. I feel… almost emotional? Like I finally can buy something I saw and want and KNOW it was made for people like me in mind,” wrote one Twitter user in response to a plus-size man modelling Savage x Fenty’s underwear.
The Savage x Fenty show, which is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime, highlights the need for more representation in the men’s plus-size industry. While many womenswear brands have responded to the call for greater size inclusivity, few menswear brands cater to a plus-size demographic.
According to data from the CDC, the average American man weighs 197.9 pounds and has a waist circumference of 40.2 inches, corresponding to an XL pant size.
