Tinder’s Year in Swipe looks back at the biggest and most buzzed-about topics Gen Zers were talking about on the app in 2019. Daters under the age of 25 now make up the majority of those on Tinder, and from the US to the UK, this is what they were swiping on in 2019.
Gen Zers care about the environment
According to Tinder’s online dating data, Gen Zers on the app are more likely to mention social causes than travel plans in their bios in comparison to Millennials. Climate change, social justice, the environment, and gun control were all recurrent phrases among the 1996-2010 crowd.
Gen Zers are true to themselves
According to Tinder, 30% more people used the app’s More Genders feature compared to in 2018. The usage of the rainbow emoji also went up by 15%.
A big, fat facepalm
Between the Game of Thrones finale and college admissions scandal, Brexit and the impending American elections, 2019 was, by all accounts, the perfect year for the triumph of the facepalm emoji. According to the app, 2019 came with a 41% increase in the frequency of facepalm emojis in Tinder bios.
