Planning Realistic Resolutions For 2019

Whether 2018 was the most terrible or the best year of your life, you must be coming out of it with some reflections. If you haven’t had the chance to sit down and reflect on your successes and failures of the year, this is the time to do it.

The biggest mistake you can make is overloading yourself with a ton of unrealistic resolutions and no plan as to how to actually get there.

1. Be Specific: Instead of making a list of 20 resolutions, figure out what’s more important and urgent for your life right now. In doing that, you’ll have more brain power and time to focus on those goals and move onto others as the year goes on!
2. Break Them Down: If you have goals like losing weight or finding a new job, you already know how difficult those can be to attain. Instead of looking at these resolutions as a whole, break them down. For losing weight, figure out exactly when you can make it to the gym, come up with a meal prep plan and get in touch with a trainer. Those are the sort of moves you have to make in order to actually reach your goal and feel less overwhelmed.
3. Make Your Goals Visible: Whether it be pasting a post-it note on your bathroom mirror or your fridge, make sure you are seeing your goals and are constantly being reminded of them!
4. Focus On Giving Back: Focus one of your resolutions on giving back to a cause that means something to you. Whether it be volunteering your time somewhere or making a monthly donation, doing such things will give you more purpose and remind you to be grateful for what you have.
