Mother’s Day is known as a time for bouquets of flowers, sentimental greeting cards, and a general outpouring of appreciation towards the woman who raised you. It’s also a great opportunity to reflect upon all of the unique traits your mom passed on to you; like your fab sense of humor, luscious locks, and killer style.

It’s so true when they say, “What goes around comes around” when it comes to fashion. Haven’t you noticed? The oversized jean jacket and hooped earrings your mom was rocking in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s are back and better ( and more expensive) than ever.

So, mom, here’s to you. Thank you for always encouraging me to pack extra snacks and to bring a jacket. Thank you for teaching me when to respect “dry clean only” instructions and when I can get away with washing in cold water; and most importantly, thank you for warning me not to over-pluck my eyebrows. (Also for raising, loving and supporting me).

Mom jeans may be typical of the 80s, but thanks to brands that dictate fashion (hello, Levi’s!), the mom-jean is back and sticking around.

Surely one of the most iconic trends of the ’80s. The bomber was deeply loved by your mom and marathon runners alike.

After years of abusing the hair straightener, the volume is back and curls are queen. Make your mother proud and let those bouncy ringlets free!

Baseball tees are lining the walls of stores (including online shops…hint.. Stylight!) and who would have expected it? Mom maybe?

Thanks to fashion designers like Balmain, padded shoulder blazers are running wild and in the wardrobes of mothers and daughters alike.

We can thank Egypt for bringing tie-dye into our lives – in one thousand B.C., cloths that used to wrap mummies were found in dyed form. The trend resurfaced and hit the big-time during the Janis Joplin-era of fashion and is once again sneaking its way back into our wardrobes.
