Declutter Your Life in 2019

You’re looking at the date today and yes, you’re seeing it right, it’s actually 2019! Your resolutions are all sorted out and hopefully, you’ve figured out a way to get yourself on track for a successful year ahead.

To kick off 2019, consider decluttering your personal space. This can make a huge difference in your day-to-day productivity and how you go about your daily life!

Keep in mind that this process won’t be like one of those shows where people get rid of all their stuff at once and come back to a beautiful sparkly home. For some, this can cause more anxiety than joy. Give yourself a deadline and specific days and times where you plan on decluttering a section of your home and go from there!

1. Memorabilia and Collectibles:  Whether it be your high school volleyball team jersey or your collection of yearbooks, there’s no doubt these items take up space and collect dust in a closet. Do you really need them? Figure out how you can save space and declutter by potentially scanning in yearbooks and keeping 1-2 sweaters and jerseys instead of a whole pile.
2. Beauty Products: Your vanity and skincare cabinets have more makeup, skincare and hair products than they can hold. It’s time you look through them and figure out what you need and what you don’t. If you make a dent there, great. Then, look at the expiration dates of whatever you’ve got left. You don’t want to be using any expired products on your body!
3. Clothes:  We’re all guilty for buying more clothes than we need. Chances are, if you haven’t worn it in the last year, you’re not going to wear it. With that in mind, toss out items that you know you no longer like or simply ones that no longer fit you!
4. Kitchen Utensils: We’re talking mismatched plates, random pieces of cutlery and dusty mugs. Figure out what you never reach for and have too much of. You really don’t need 5 of the same measuring cup or 3 soup ladles.
5. Dusty Home Decor: Do you really need those wicker baskets in the living room and the fake flowers in your bedroom? If these things don’t bring you joy or add any beauty to your home, ditch them! You’re better off without them anyway.
