What To Expect From The Kenzo x H&M Collab
The fast-fashion powerhouse that brought luxury labels like Versace, Cavalli and Lanvin to the mass market has announced their next collab: Kenzo. And if the success of their last collection with Balmain is any indication, this release will have customers cued up around the corner of every H&M from New York to Tokyo.
So far, the only information the brands have made public is the launch date—November 2016—along with some teaser imagery suggesting Kenzo is bringing the young, loud and lavish aesthetic full force.
But, for those of you out there not familiar with the Japanese-Parisian fashion house, we’re breaking down what you can expect from this collection.
East-Meets-West Streetwear
Bold backpacks, graphic sweatshirts, flirty dresses—at its core this collection is going to be made up of your typical streetwear but with a Kenzo twist.
Prints, Prints & More Prints
Print clashing is a part of Kenzo’s DNA, so the colorful leopard print featured in the teaser imagery was no surprise—and we’re willing to bet there is more where that came from.
Additionally, we expect to see a lot of animal prints not only because it’s a throwback to the brand’s roots as a jungle themed boutique in Paris, but because the fall collection was chalked full of animalistic stripes in every color.
Tiger & Eye Motifs
The brand's most recognizable motif is a tiger head, thanks to the wildly popular embroidered sweatshirts they’ve been slanging since 2013. But while we’re not sure they’ll imitate this $200+ piece in the collection, we’re sure you’ll be able to find plenty of other merch bearing this symbol as well as their other iconic image: an Illuminati-esque eye.
Bright Bold Colors
Even in their fall collections when dark, earthy hues rule the runway, Kenzo always brings punches of color. Neon purples, bold blues and acidic yellows are all sure to be making appearances across the collection.
On-Trend
Kenzo may have its own unique aesthetic, but they don’t shy away from trends either. If their fall collection is any indication we expect to see some of this season's hottest styles incorporated into this collab (think: statement sleeves, ruffles, and metallics).
