Retro-Galactica: The space-themed trend taking over fashion
New Year’s Eve may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the sparkly frocks and glittery makeup the holiday is famous for have to be packed up for the year. In fact, we predict the glitz and glamour of the Retro-Galactica trend will be one to watch in 2022.
Inspired by futuristic space travel and the vintage glam of the ’70s and ’80s, retro-galactica is a trend heavy in metallic fabrics, silver space-themed colours, and white knee-high and platform heels.
Making an argument that glitter-embellished dresses are not just for champagne-fuelled New Year’s Eve celebrations, influencers like Emili Sindlev, Camille Charriere, and Leonie Hanne have all been spotted wearing sequined, space-inspired outfits as of late.
A trend for the daring, sky-high platform heels have experienced a 105 per cent increase in clicks on Stylight, accompanied by white knee-high boots, which have in turn seen an 88 per cent increase in clicks.
