Gigi Hadid loves these Rogue Matilda brogues

Julia Roberts, Gigi Hadid, and Lucy Hale are among a blossoming celebrity fanbase of indie accessories label Rogue Matilda. Launched in 2016 by former fashion buyer Katie Matilda Cary, Rogue Matilda has grown from a fashion girl’s side-gig to a brand staple of Hollywood’s most stylish stars.

Katie Cary, Rogue Matilda’s creative director, told Stylight, “Gigi was the first real celebrity to wear the brand back in 2016 and I can remember seeing all the photos of her in them at NYFW on my phone in the back of a cab.” Gigi’s Rogue Matilda ‘Bullseye’ black patent brogues sold out immediately and have become one of the brand’s most popular styles.

Katie says she would love to see her brand on celebrities who “don’t take themselves too seriously (…) Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlet Johannson, Blake Lively, and of course colour queen Iris Apfel. I would also love to see someone like Grayson Perry in them. I’m a big fan of his work.”

Designed in London and hand made in Portugal, Katie is wearing her carbon-friendly ‘Locomotion’ loafers “with my straight leg jeans and big collar blouses like the ones from Ganni and La Veste.”

“When I had places to go and people to see pre-lockdown I wouldn’t be without my tan Arm Candy bag,” Katie says. “My go-to hero brogue for the past few years has been the Pomme in black because she’s so smart for meetings and nights out. However, the shoe I’ve been wearing most days recently is the Locomotion loafer in green snake- she’s the perfect working from home companion!”
