Fetish fashion is trending: Would you wear the controversial trend?
Things are about to get a little spicy: are you ready? Just as the corset trend made its rounds on TikTok and among street style stars, its X-rated cousins: latex mini dresses, bondage outfits, pleather bodysuits, and dog collars, are finding their way into the sartorial mainstream.
Whether we can credit “Uncut Gems” “muse” Julia Fox and her (un)fortunate foray into meme culture, Dua Lipa and her iconic 2022 Grammy’s Versace look, or a general undoing of the pandemic’s uniform of sweatshirts and leggings, fetish fashion is in, and by the looks of things, it’s here to stay.
Trend of the month: Fetish fashion
Dubbed the “Trend of the Month” by Stylight’s Insights team, fetishized fashion staples are staking their claim among this season’s trends to watch.
At the forefront of the trend are corsets. According to internal Stylight data, clicks on corsets with harness details and straps have increased by a whopping 288 percent since early March.
