While it’s true our love for sneakers will never truly go away, it seems that, at least for the moment, we’re in need of a sneaker pause.

Following a year and a half of sweatsuits and slip-ons, it would appear the people want, wait for it…fashion again. We know, shocking!

In our annual Fashion Recap report, our editors and analysts discovered that after years of sneakers claiming the “best shoe” title, their reign may be finally coming to an end (well, kind of).

Before you stash away your Converse high-tops and Veja V-12s, just know that while fashion girls are shopping for other shoes this season, sneakers will always be in style.

A surprise to few, chunky loafers like Prada’s Monolith loafer are one of the flagship shoes of the year. Search interest for the style has increased by a whopping 295% since the start of the year.

Ladylike Mary Janes are making their comeback in the new year, and we, for one, could not be more excited. Stylight users have already been searching for the style 89% more than last year.

Whether it’s a consequence of the Sex and the City reboot or a slow return to the sky-high styles of years past, but searches for low-to-the-ground kitten heels have bumped 89% on Google compared to the previous period.

We never thought we would see the day that Crocs were a trending shoe, but if the last two years have proven anything, it’s that anything is possible. The ugly-chic shoe has seen a 76% increase in clicks on Stylight compared to the previous period. Thoughts? We’ll keep them to ourselves.
