Chic Ways To Stay Sun Safe & Avoid Sunburn
The glorious sun has come out to play and with all of those festivals, summer parties, and drinks on rooftops, our poor skin’s going to get a bit of a beating. Well, it could if you’re not clever. Melanoma’s no joke, folks, so avoid sunburn as much as possible. Do as the Aussies do and slip, slop, slap: Slip on a t-shirt, slop on some sunscreen, and slap on a hat. We’d also like to add ‘slide,’ as in, ‘slide on a pair of sunnies.’
If, like yours truly, you’re practically see-through, don’t bother trying to get a tan. Just accept it: You’re melanin-deficient, so don’t force your skin to be something it’s not. Still craving some colour? Fake it! A spray-on is the only sun-safe tan. While you’re frolicking about in sunshine, don’t forget to stay hydrated and try to minimise your direct sun exposure. Staying in the shade when possible is a great way to do this.
Avoiding the dreaded sunburn is easy, and it doesn’t have to be the painfully embarrassing and lengthy process it used to be when you were a kid. Here’s some sun-safe essentials to get you started.
