Avoid These Five Things And Get A Great Sleep
You’ve been exhausted for hours and when you finally make it to your bed, you can’t sleep. You toss and turn and walk around your house with little to no luck. Does that sound too familiar? This could be due to these five no-gos you’re likely taking part in.
1. Using Electronics
You love checking your Instagram feed one last time before you get to sleep, but you should definitely avoid this if you’re craving a good sleep. The blue light in our screens makes the brain believe that we want to stay away even longer, which messes with our inner clock. So stay away from all those tempting screens if you actually want to get some rest.
2. Caffeinated Drinks
You’re a certified coffee addict.
Obviously, this isn’t a good idea if you’re trying to go to sleep. But caffeine isn’t in coffee only. Watch out for energy drinks, iced tea and pop as those all contain loads of caffeine, enough to keep you awake through the night. Before going to bed, try to opt for some herbal tea instead of your beloved cappuccino.
3. Overeatting
Experts recommend your last meal be at least 3 hours before you head to bed. Too many carbohydrates, fatty/breaded foods, spicy foods are on the blacklist as they’re super heavy and difficult for the stomach to digest.
4. Turn On The Heater
A warm room helps you sleep better? Maybe not. If you blast your heater, you’ll wake up in the middle of the night sweating. Of course, you shouldn’t be too cold either. The ideal room temperature is between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius.
5. Not Wearing Socks
Your body temperature is just as important as the room temperature when going to sleep. Sleep into some fuzzy socks before you go to bed. This will keep you warm and help you sleep much better.
