Kitchenware for quick meals and elaborate menus

You need the right kitchenware for cooking and baking, and for smoothies or coffee. Here is an overview of the most important models and their functions:

It’s all in the mix: Mixers and Blenders

Mixers and blenders are standard appliances that belong in every kitchen – without them whipped cream, velvety smooth soups or smoothies aren’t possible.

  • Mixers are available as hand-blenders, or as a set which comprises a stand and bowl. Various attachments with varying functions – for example whisking eggs or kneading dough.
  • Hand-held blenders and stand blenders are required for pureeing and mashing or grinding, as well as for grating and chopping. Cocktails and smoothies can also be made with good stand mixers.
  • Smoothie makers are high performance blenders designed specifically for making all kinds of smoothies, from classic juices made from fresh fruit to vegetable and herbal juices.

The small all-rounder: The microwave

Food can be heated up or defrosted in a microwave. There are also microwaves which feature an oven, grill or hot air functions, or integrated steamers. They are stand-alone appliances for the worktop or they come as built-in devices intended for use in kitchen cupboards.

Toasters and waffle makers

When it comes to toasters, you have the choice between a model for two, four or more slices of toast. Common additional toaster functions include a defrost setting and a function to control the level of toasting. There are also practical attachments for toasting bread rolls and a crumb tray. There are waffle makers for making heart-shaped waffles and rectangular Belgian-style waffles. Waffle makers which have a non-stick coating don’t need any oil when toasting, which makes cleaning easier.

Coffee makers and automatic coffee machines

The scope of coffee machines ranges from simple mechanical equipment, right through to high-tech appliances.

  • There are coffee machines available for making classic filter coffee, as well as coffee pods and coffee capsules for single cups of coffee.
  • The French Press, coffee plunger and cafetiere – are names of mechanical coffee makers with a coffee pot and a stainless steel filter. Ground coffee is mixed with boiled water, left to brew, and then pressed with the filter, trapping the grounds.
  • Automatic coffee machines have an integrated coffee grinder and are used to make various kinds of coffee – like a cappuccino or an espresso.

Kitchen appliances are available for almost every purpose, in simple, affordable designs and also in more expensive models which have lots of extra functions. If you really consider what you need, you’ll find the right kitchen appliances for your kitchen.
