Blue jackets: breezy nautical designs that you can wear all day long

“I have nothing to wear.” That’s probably something you’ve said on umpteen occasions. The problem is that you have lots of clothes, but somehow they all look much the same. There are three black coats on the coat rack, and two pairs of brown shoes on the floor underneath, but when you’re out shopping, you opt for a third pair in the same color. You should add more variety to your closet so that you can create more versatile looks. How about a blue jacket? Use it to celebrate the start of the weekend!

Saturday morning

A dress with a cheerful floral pattern instantly lightens your mood and helps you shake off morning tiredness.
Your summer look: red ballerina flats with bows, a lightweight dark-blue denim jacket and gold jewelry
Your winter look: light-gray woollen  tights, dark-brown boots, a dark-blue nautical jacket with gold buttons and epaulets.

Saturday afternoon

You’re enjoying a mid-day meal with your best friend at the city’s most upscale restaurant.
Your summer look: a pencil skirt made of printed fabric featuring an ethnic or geometric design, a sleeveless white cowl-neck top, delicate gold jewelry, and a lightweight blue jacket made of cool silk.
Your winter look: Keep the pencil skirt, but wear a creme-colored turtle-neck sweater made of soft cashmere. Complete the look with a dark-blue down jacket.

Saturday evening

Date night with your favorite guy. You meet him at the latest “it” bar to celebrate your fun weekend.
Your summer and winter look: a tight, beige bodysuit with lace appliqués and a pair of flared pants. Top it off with a blue bouclé jacket, pointed pumps and a red clutch.

Saturday night

You’ll get to sleep in tomorrow! So why not paint the town red tonight? The hottest club in town awaits you.
Your summer and winter look: a black jumpsuit and metallic heels. A dark-blue blazer keeps you warm on the way home in the summer; a dark-blue jacket made of real or faux fur is perfect for winter.

If you have a pale complexion, a blue jacket is a great alternative to black because it doesn’t make you look washed out. What’s more, by combining it with gold and cherry red, you can create an awesome nautical look.

Starting your day with a blue jacket keeps the morning blues at bay.
