Fluffy, Absorbent or Decorative: Doormats Create Ambiance

Doormats are practical, but they are also an important decorative item – for all rooms in the house. They create a feeling of coziness, make sure that dirt from outside stays at the door, and provide warmth for the feet:

For the entrance hall

  • Function: express individuality and welcome your guests
  • Material: dirt-repellent materials such as sisal or coconut coir
  • Design: flower patterns, welcome greeting or plain-colored
  • Maintenance: run the vacuum cleaner back and forth on it and if necessary, wipe with a damp cloth
  • Special tip: for entrance mats used inside, avoid thicker models that may block the door

For lounge rooms and bedrooms

  • Function: In these rooms doormats are first and foremost a cozy decorative item often placed in front of a couch or bed. They can keep your feet warm and, particularly in the bedroom, make getting up in the morning easier.
  • Material: thick, soft cotton
  • Design: Different shapes and designs are available to emphasize the atmosphere of the room: Narrow carpets go well in small living areas, round or square doormats look good in front of or next to the coffee table and in large rooms.
  • Maintenance: most are machine washable at a low temperature
  • Special tip: If you put a fluffy doormat or a sheepskin next to your bed, you’ll find getting up in the morning a whole lot easier.

For the bathroom

  • Function: stop your feet getting cold on the bathroom tiles and create a cozy atmosphere in the room. Put them in front of the shower, sink or toilet.
  • Material: soft cotton with a latex underside and an anti-slip coating
  • Design: Matching sets, for example, with Asian or stone patterns, can turn your bathroom into a wellness temple.
  • Maintenance: To keep your bathroom fresh and clean, be sure to wash the mats every two weeks in 30° water.
  • Special tip: Match your trashcan, toobrush cup and soap dish to the design and color of your doormats. You will thereby create a harmonious overall concept.

For the stairs

  • Function: Stair tread mats are particularly important for stairs made of wood or stone and prevent people from slipping.
  • Material: sisal, for example
  • Design: plain-colored
  • Maintenance: These mats need to be vacuumed on occasion.
  • Special tip: Most stair mats come with angle fasteners and adhesive strips, and can be put in place quite easily.
