There’s a huge misconception that men can’t wear cashmere scarves without either being English or a stuffy old man. Lucky for you, we’re ripping this stereotype to shreds with five ways to wear your cashmere scarves that is perfect for every man’s style.
The Drape
This is hands down one of the simplest and most common ways to wear a scarf. There’s no actual tying involved with this technique: just drape the scarf at the nape of your neck and let the two ends hang at the front of your chest. This is a great look when you need to look dapper while wearing a double-breasted suit and black patent leather shoes.
Overhand Knot
Also known as the ascot, this classic style of wearing a scarf became an iconic symbol of class in blue-blooded circles of men. Lay the scarf over your shoulders and then take both ends of the scarf, and tie them over-and-under, as you were typing a giant pair of shoelaces. The last step is smoothing out the front and tightening the knot closer to the neck as desired. Bring out your inner aristocrat by wearing it with a crisp button-down with the top button undone, pleated trousers and an oversized watch.
The Once Round
If your main goal is to keep your neck warm, this is the style for you. Pick out a medium-to-long length scarf to make this technique work. Take the scarf and wrap it once around your neck, leaving two ends dangling in the front. Throw on a down jacket and a pair of sturdy boots and stay toasty all day long.
The European Knot
The European knot is a fast way to tie your scarf and it creates a warm knot right at the collar. When you wear this style with your wool jacket, it makes for a good wind-stopper. Fold the scarf in half at the middle making sure the ends meet. Hold the doubled-over bend in one hand, while passing the loose ends around the back of your neck with the other. Tuck the ends through the bend and pull snugly.
