Getting under the blanket: Plaids for every price range

Blankets, also known as plaids, are suitable for snuggling on sofas, as bedspreads for beds or as throws for rocking chairs on the patio. There are winter and summer designs thanks to numerous qualities from cotton to cashmere and different weaving densities. With different designs, they create a new look on the couch, bring calmness into the bedroom or they can also be a loud highlight for an armchair. Stylight explains the different price ranges and quality classes:

Low budget: Cotton blankets

  • Looks: The blanket made of microfiber is available in loud colors. The seams are stitched using a thick yarn often in contrasting colors. Stars and dots are popular patterns.
  • Materials: Fleece (microfiber) and cotton.
  • Quality: With a price range of ca. USD 30 to USD 90 and rather low priced fabrics, these blankets are meant to be replaced often or changed seasonally. Advantage: They are easy to clean and can be put in the washing machine.

Medium: Blankets made of new wool

  • Looks: These blankets get their subtle pattern through different weaving methods. That is how checks and block stripes emerge. Chunky knit blankets appear cozy. Plaids in animal print appear extravagant.
  • Materials: New and lambswool, alpaca, mohair and fake fur (synthetic).
  • Quality: With prices ranging between ca. USD 90 to USD 170 and high quality wool blends, blankets made of new wool will keep you warm for several years.

High class: Cashmere blankets

  • Looks: Plain-colored blankets in earth tones, pastel colors and with a zig-zag pattern match with all styles of furnishing. A fringed seam serves as a decorative finish.
  • Materials: The higher the percentage of cashmere, the softer the material. 100 percent cashmere is the Rolls Royce among blankets.
  • Quality: Anyone who invests ca. USD 170 to USD 340 in a cashmere blanket can expect top quality. Plaids don’t lose their snuggle factor even after years of use. Sole disadvantage: The delicate material must be taken to the dry cleaner’s.

Textiles are a good decorating element for making rooms cozy. Those who enjoy redecorating can find new pillows and carpets and low priced blankets made of microfiber, cotton or new wool. Different designs and loud colors give your apartment a new look immediately. Snuggling is best with cashmere plaids, however one has to dig a bit deeper into the wallet.

Now it gets cozy: Blankets made of cotton, new wool or cashmere invite you to snuggle.
