Survival Accessories for Your Outdoor Adventures

According to its definition, an adventure is an exciting, typically hazardous, activity. And whether you are an adrenaline junkie or just looking to add a little spice to your life, getting ready to go for an outdoor exploit means a little smart packing. Be prepared for wherever your escapade takes you with these accessories.

Bags

Whether you’re backpacking along the Alpine trail or you are a runner training for a race, your backpack matters. The trailblazers– who are hiking for days on end–should find one with multiple body straps that will distribute the weight evenly.  A long distance runner, meanwhile, can find the perfect running partner in an aerodynamic hydration pack. Looking for an outdoor pack that is a little less intense? Opt for a backpack made of waterproof canvas with padded shoulder straps for a stroll through the park and a picnic.

Gloves

Mittens are the warmest gloves there are, harnessing your body heat to keep your fingers nice and toasty. Unfortunately, they are not going to come in handy for outdoor activities. When you are out on your adventures, opt for full-finger gloves that will maximize your dexterity. Exploring a mountainside? Pick a pair with finger grips to help you catch your fall if you trip. Rafting? You’ll want a pair that is waterproof.

Hats

Hot or cold, rain or shine—no matter what the weather, if you are going to be outdoors for an extended period of time, you will need a hat. Opt for a fitted cap that will stay on your head during rigorous activities, like snowboarding or mountain biking. Spending a long time in the sun? Pick a hat with a wide brim to protect your face and neck from the harsh sun.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are not just for sunny days and hot weather. The sun’s harsh UV rays are ever-present, even on cloudy days. Choose a pair of curved frames for sunglasses that will stay on your head during rigorous activity, or stay cool in classic frames with a bungee strap to keep them in place. Then pay close attention to the colored lens. A yellow tint aids in depth perception without blocking out the light. Hitting snowy terrain? Choose a red lens for increased contrast that will define your surroundings as you hit the slopes.

Pack your bags and pull on your boots—no matter where your adventure takes you, with these accessories by your side, you’ll be ready.
